Health and Safety Committee Mission - August 12, 2002
The mission of the Health and Safety Committee is to assure that the cleanup of the unit ventilators and HVAC ducts, as well as necessary asbestos testing and abatement be completed in an effective and timely manner so that the Stuyvesant building can be certified safe for re-occupancy before the first scheduled day of school in September (9/05/02).
The committee will communicate with both of the environmental consultants engaged by the Parents' Association and will provide information via the PA website and any other means of communication the committee deems necessary.
All committee meetings will be open to the general membership and minutes of all meetings shall be made available.
The committee's mission will be completed when the school is
- Determined to be clean and safe for re-occupancy according to standards accepted by the committee in consultation with the environmental consultants
- The school has re-opened.
At that time, the committee will write a final report and submit it to the Executive Board.
The committee may identify areas of ongoing and future health and safety concerns and may make recommendations to the Executive Board for addressing these concerns.
Upon completion of the committee's work, the Executive Board can address the further tasks that might be undertaken by an ongoing Health and Safety Committee.
